You know something that really disgusts me about the right wing. To a degree I can tolerate their ignorance. It irritates me but not half as much as their cowardice does.

There was an article about a transgendered woman being denied breast augmentation on religious grounds. There was also a right-wing asshat version of the story: http://www.calcatholic.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?id=b99ab893-0b1a-4ed4-950f-08df39c2b4c3

I posted this as a comment:

Here's a simple proof that they're bigots and not acting on what the Bible says:

1) There is nothing in the Bible saying, 'Thou Shalt Not Have Breasts'.
2) The only passage in the Bible that could even be construed as being relevant to transgendered people is the one where you're not supposed to dress as a woman in order to sneak into someone else's house and have sex with his women.
3) VANITY, is one of the 7 Deadly Sins. If the hospital were refusing on religious grounds, shouldn't they refuse to treat so-called 'normal' women who are getting boob-jobs strictly for their own vanity?

My comment was deleted. In fact, this isn't the first time. Right wing bloggers tend to delete about 9 out of every 10 of my comments.

You can read that comment. It hasn't got any naughty words in it. It isn't filled with hate speech. It's not even a screed against religion. It's a short and logical set of statements. If you don't believe it was deleted, I dare you to cut and paste it to that blog and see if they run it.

This is the stuff that really irks me. They're such WORMS. They can't stand the light of day. Fucking pathetic little hypocrites and liars. They KNOW that they're wrong but they're not going to admit it. Sure, they'll let you post defending transgendered people because they can take the moral high ground and say, "God doesn't approve!" but if you throw them off balance and point out that they're going directly against the bible in their 'right course', they'll just delete your comment outright because they can't argue with it and they can't bear to look at it.

Funny that they claim that only evil and corrupt things can't stand truth and the light of day. Of course, what are we left to assume? They know the truth, they're exposed as being hypocrites and bigots, and yet chose to conceal that fact and lie that they never heard it. I wonder what God would think of such vain, arrogant, hateful, conceited, and dishonest creatures.

I think that's why the right wing disgusts me so. I am a MUCH BETTER Christian than most of them are and I'm an atheist.

Oh, I trust you, I just like the idea of insisting that this response be posted. I think it's generally a bad idea to try to engage bigots in theological conversations, because obviously they're one of the chosen of god and you're a heathen, so they know the bible better than you even if they've never read it and you've got quotes to back you up... well actually there is no good way to argue with people like this so I suppose appealing to the bible is a fine enough way to do it.

Yeah. I commented to the friend that linked me to the story that my preferred way of arguing with conservatives these days was related to the way Judo was explained to me. As it was told to me (I don't know anything about martial arts and this could be total BS) The idea in Judo is not to resist your opponent's attacks but redirect them so that their own force is what causes them injury.

I know I can't win a face to face fight with a religious zealot. They believe they're RIGHT and no amount of evidence to the contrary has ever changed the attitude of a single bigot I've ever argued with. However, if I can instead use their momentum and give them a nudge from a direction they weren't anticipating, I can (in theory) throw them headlong into their own hypocrisy.

Though generally at this point, they just mutter, "Well that's what I believe." or stop talking to me all together.

It's something of a hollow victory but... I know how hard it is to admit when you're wrong. I should know. I've been wrong often enough. :) (incidentally... You still suck. :)
