You know something that really disgusts me about the right wing. To a degree I can tolerate their ignorance. It irritates me but not half as much as their cowardice does.

There was an article about a transgendered woman being denied breast augmentation on religious grounds. There was also a right-wing asshat version of the story: http://www.calcatholic.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?id=b99ab893-0b1a-4ed4-950f-08df39c2b4c3

I posted this as a comment:

Here's a simple proof that they're bigots and not acting on what the Bible says:

1) There is nothing in the Bible saying, 'Thou Shalt Not Have Breasts'.
2) The only passage in the Bible that could even be construed as being relevant to transgendered people is the one where you're not supposed to dress as a woman in order to sneak into someone else's house and have sex with his women.
3) VANITY, is one of the 7 Deadly Sins. If the hospital were refusing on religious grounds, shouldn't they refuse to treat so-called 'normal' women who are getting boob-jobs strictly for their own vanity?

My comment was deleted. In fact, this isn't the first time. Right wing bloggers tend to delete about 9 out of every 10 of my comments.

You can read that comment. It hasn't got any naughty words in it. It isn't filled with hate speech. It's not even a screed against religion. It's a short and logical set of statements. If you don't believe it was deleted, I dare you to cut and paste it to that blog and see if they run it.

This is the stuff that really irks me. They're such WORMS. They can't stand the light of day. Fucking pathetic little hypocrites and liars. They KNOW that they're wrong but they're not going to admit it. Sure, they'll let you post defending transgendered people because they can take the moral high ground and say, "God doesn't approve!" but if you throw them off balance and point out that they're going directly against the bible in their 'right course', they'll just delete your comment outright because they can't argue with it and they can't bear to look at it.

Funny that they claim that only evil and corrupt things can't stand truth and the light of day. Of course, what are we left to assume? They know the truth, they're exposed as being hypocrites and bigots, and yet chose to conceal that fact and lie that they never heard it. I wonder what God would think of such vain, arrogant, hateful, conceited, and dishonest creatures.

I think that's why the right wing disgusts me so. I am a MUCH BETTER Christian than most of them are and I'm an atheist.

Oh, and the little bigot is defensive of his bigotry. I posted

I'll repeat my previous post: They are liars and it's easy to see. Vanity is one of the 7 deadly sins. If they were going to refuse anyone for augmentation it should be 'normal' women.

There can't be any communication when you delete posts which easily prove you're a bigot. You don't want to communicate. You want to keep your lie and claim you speak for God. How do you think you'll be judged? Do you even care or is religion just a tool you corrupt for your own worldly power?

In response to http://calcatholic.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?id=8919878f-3fb9-4541-8f0e-570e73713541

I bet that one never shows up in the comments either.

Heh! You know. My first response was
"Wah! My friends don't trust me!"
followed by, "YAY! Science!"
followed by, "Hmm. Of course now they'll think I'm an angry spammer and have more justification to not run it."
Although, they haven't 'approved' it after 4 hours so and other comments have since been approved, so I'm betting that's 'not going to approve'. Especially given that the person claims they are "Not peace but a sword"

Anyhow. I'd suggest no more people re-post it for a few hours so there's less justification for the spammer thing. Fire it off tomorrow or the day after. Best to test reproducibility without introducing too many variables.

Oh. I also noticed that there are no occurrences of 'vain', 'vane', 'vane', or 'vanity' in any of the other comments. I'm pretty certain that out of hundreds of posters, I wouldn't be the first person to associate a boob job with vanity. I think it's pretty clear there's some censorship going on.

Oh, I trust you, I just like the idea of insisting that this response be posted. I think it's generally a bad idea to try to engage bigots in theological conversations, because obviously they're one of the chosen of god and you're a heathen, so they know the bible better than you even if they've never read it and you've got quotes to back you up... well actually there is no good way to argue with people like this so I suppose appealing to the bible is a fine enough way to do it.

They're already saying that it's culture war and all means are justified.

I suggest cloaking your thoughtful comments in Christian rhetoric. Works for me.

Yeah. I commented to the friend that linked me to the story that my preferred way of arguing with conservatives these days was related to the way Judo was explained to me. As it was told to me (I don't know anything about martial arts and this could be total BS) The idea in Judo is not to resist your opponent's attacks but redirect them so that their own force is what causes them injury.

I know I can't win a face to face fight with a religious zealot. They believe they're RIGHT and no amount of evidence to the contrary has ever changed the attitude of a single bigot I've ever argued with. However, if I can instead use their momentum and give them a nudge from a direction they weren't anticipating, I can (in theory) throw them headlong into their own hypocrisy.

Though generally at this point, they just mutter, "Well that's what I believe." or stop talking to me all together.

It's something of a hollow victory but... I know how hard it is to admit when you're wrong. I should know. I've been wrong often enough. :) (incidentally... You still suck. :)

Fascinating. Assuming you are 'Chris', they posted yours. I don't get it.

I am Chris, and I can only assume that after a certain point they don't actually screen all submitted comments!

Yeah, the "no quarter asked nor given" attitude is something I tend to take as a dare. Psychological warfare, ahoy, Captain! It's a pity work's bitten my arse, or I'd join in. I think it'd start with my favorite, the "pretend to be one of them and say patently stupid but plausible things to see who agrees with you" strategy. Maybe later this week?

and what about XXy, or the Hermaphrodite ....

Or those of us who are hormonally mixed up.

... SIGH ....

What really bugs me about this, is that I am appalled at the Catholic church taking a stance like this, when they can't keep their own priest in line (and their penises in their pants)

muttering to myself.
