Woot! I found a beta-test version of WIDI's audio to MIDI converter and it seems to work.

For tonight's experiment, I tried taking audio from my keyboard rather than the MIDI and running it back through this WAV to MIDI converter thingy as a sort of distortion. Then I changed the voice and pitch and otherwise fooled around.

I made something that isn't quite music but... It's not entirely noise either.

What would you call this? http://circle.twu.net/audio/CyberCircus.mp3

If nothing else, I'm entertained. :)

I'm using the WIDI Audio to Midi AU plugin. They seem to do a VST one and a stand-alone app as well.

If you search for "audio to midi" or "wav to midi" on google, you'll turn up several free-ware and shareware ones for Windows.

I don't use Windows though so I don't know how well any of them work.

In other news, I have mulkimchi. It is done, as of yesterday, and good for the next week or so. How do I get stinky sour nummy radish and cabbage fresh pickle to you?
