Well. First FCTV commercial of the year is done (after much procrastination)

Well. Done is the wrong word. It's roughly timed and I'm tired of working on it, so I will probably call it good enough.

Here's a PlayBlast of it from Maya. (About 90K Quicktime)

Some of the timing is a little long; I'll trim that down in a more friendly program like Premiere. Also, only the stuff inside the green box will be displayed on the TV screen (and things like the little XYZ indicator won't be displayed, of course, and it will be rendered a bit better.

The idea was a simple-objects character so she's deliberately abstracted. Simple polygon shapes (except her arms which are extruded polygons) No mouth, etc.

Sometime in the near future I'm going to re-read the IK Man tutorial and then look at some free rigs from online and learn how to rig a character properly as her rig stinks something awful. :)

I should also learn how to do pose-to-pose clip editing as this is done more or less straight-ahead (and it shows) and that makes it incredibly difficult to go and adjust things later.

Anyhow, critique away! I probably won't change much but I will apply critique information to future projects. :)

EDIT: I guess I should add some more walls and potted plants and the like.

I've tried playing with Hash's Animation Master, Lightwave and also with Maya.. and I'd love to learn to use one, at least competently.. I have a few pet projects that really require 3D animation. So they're all on hold.. permanently... *urf*

Oh well.. as you say, variety is a lot of fun and there are many other projects that demand my time and that I do have the skills for. ^_^
