Okay, I know I said I was going to tone down politics but this one is important. The wealthy and powerful of america are trying to make a bloodless coupe. BEHOLD THE POWER OF TELEVISION: http://money.cnn.com/2004/10/11/news/newsmakers/sinclair_kerry/index.htm?cnn=yes

This isn't some whacko website or leftwing thing, check news. google.com. They really ARE pre-empting 2 hours of prime time network television to make a smear ad against Kerry.

Regardless of which side you're on, this is atrocious and manipulative of the american public and a total violation of the FCC guidelines. I'll remind you also that this is the same "LIBERAL MEDIA" that didn't air the show they'd made about Ronald Reagan because it didn't portray him as the Baby Jesus.

Welcome to the new world people, it's not 30 minutes into the future anymore, it's 30 minutes into the past.

That's... Well, in short, holy fuck, that's insane. >_< Not _suprising_, but insane. I think the fact that it's airing without commercials is specifically telling - Why air it if it's not for profit? Pretty obvious.

Conversely, it's sort of interesting that there's a sort of biopic/documentary film coming out about Kerry's Vietnam years in late October. It looks to lean to the positive end, for him... Unfortunately, I can't recall the name off the top of my head, but I saw the trailer ad when I went to see 'Control Room', which is a documentary about Al Jazeera and the US menipulation of media in Iraq.

It might just be that I'm more aware of it... but I think the Bush campaign in particular, and politics as a whole, has gotten a lot more media savvy and sneaky since the last election.

The movie is called "Going Upriver", and by all accounts it's pretty good. Worth seeing.

And if ABC was forcing it to be played on its network the night before the election, or Fahrenheit 9/11, you can bet the Republicans would be screaming bloody murder.

I'm half hoping the Sinclair stations will air it on a Monday night ;) Then you'd have a lot of pissed-off football fans who won't think much of Bush anymore, assuming any of them did in the first place ;)
