Okay, I know I said I was going to tone down politics but this one is important. The wealthy and powerful of america are trying to make a bloodless coupe. BEHOLD THE POWER OF TELEVISION: http://money.cnn.com/2004/10/11/news/newsmakers/sinclair_kerry/index.htm?cnn=yes

This isn't some whacko website or leftwing thing, check news. google.com. They really ARE pre-empting 2 hours of prime time network television to make a smear ad against Kerry.

Regardless of which side you're on, this is atrocious and manipulative of the american public and a total violation of the FCC guidelines. I'll remind you also that this is the same "LIBERAL MEDIA" that didn't air the show they'd made about Ronald Reagan because it didn't portray him as the Baby Jesus.

Welcome to the new world people, it's not 30 minutes into the future anymore, it's 30 minutes into the past.

That's... Well, in short, holy fuck, that's insane. >_< Not _suprising_, but insane. I think the fact that it's airing without commercials is specifically telling - Why air it if it's not for profit? Pretty obvious.

Conversely, it's sort of interesting that there's a sort of biopic/documentary film coming out about Kerry's Vietnam years in late October. It looks to lean to the positive end, for him... Unfortunately, I can't recall the name off the top of my head, but I saw the trailer ad when I went to see 'Control Room', which is a documentary about Al Jazeera and the US menipulation of media in Iraq.

It might just be that I'm more aware of it... but I think the Bush campaign in particular, and politics as a whole, has gotten a lot more media savvy and sneaky since the last election.

The movie is called "Going Upriver", and by all accounts it's pretty good. Worth seeing.

And if ABC was forcing it to be played on its network the night before the election, or Fahrenheit 9/11, you can bet the Republicans would be screaming bloody murder.

I'm half hoping the Sinclair stations will air it on a Monday night ;) Then you'd have a lot of pissed-off football fans who won't think much of Bush anymore, assuming any of them did in the first place ;)

These people are the scum of the world. They're practically identical to the third world people who are supposed to pose such a threat to us. I know a lot about their kind - that type is the reason I barely have any family left alive in Europe anymore.

And right now they're scared scum - scared because their front people have been revealed as liars dangerous to the country and to the world, time and time again. Clinton escaped Vietnam by being a good student, and Kerry escaped Vietnam by being there and making use of his injuries - but their front man played AWOL to participate in a smear campaign, and to do a batch of coke. You'd have to have less brainpower than Bush to think that looks good.

They will tamper polls, they will tamper television, they will tamper elections. All we can do is hope that Americans can only be lied to so often before both hearts and brains cry out in outrage.

And that's why liberals tend to lose to conservatives. Because by definition, we have qualms about shutting them up, shutting them out - it grates with a lot of us, born and bred on the idea of freedom of speech. The enemy has no such ethical dilemnas.
