Not sure if this will titilate or squick you but I somehow think it will serve to entice either way!

Okay... Just for those who have sensative combinations of XY chromosones, here's heads up. This post is a mean nasty angry annoyed feminist rant!

You have been warned!

So. Reading through my nifty old 50's comic book, inevitably, there's going to be one REAL clunker of a story in there. I scanned the whole 8 pages of it so you can see what I'm ranting about.

http://circle.twu.net/pos/

Now, yes, this one story is insipidly stupid on so many different levels even if you ignore the blantant lack of scientific understanding, but there's something more irksome about this story.

I've seen it before. Not this same exact story, mind you, if it were just one guy writing a stupid wank story, I could deal with it, but in truth, I can think of about a DOZEN variations on this story. 'All the men have died due to some disaster, or more likely, something stupid they did to themselves'. Brave men from Earth find 'The planet of the women!', 'Though the women have not seen cock in 2000 years, they are desperate for it! Empty sucking voids waiting to be filled! Of course, they're always shy giggly girls except when they're tough amazons just waiting for the right cock to subdue them. The amazon stories are actually sort of worse. That whole 'Right Cock' bullshit story. And at the end of the story, the real twist is never, 'The women turn out to be blood sucking sirens from beyond the grave that kill the stupid men who bought such a stupid story.' No. The REAL twist is that they jump into monogamous relationships with the first men they meet because two whole nuclear families will repopulate a planet!

See how far you can make it reading this story without banging your head on something. I got to page 5 but I was sedated with tea and cakes.

I'm interested. Just how many versions of this story are there? it seems to be one of the standard sci-fi jerk-off stories and how many different authors. I love sci-fi and a lot of the time I can even bite the bullet and ignore the sexism of the times the stories were written in, but this RARE GEM story keeps popping up and every time I see it, it churns my stomach.

X-Posting to Feminist-Rage.

Late night in the HH. )
Scrawled out in about 10 minutes with marker and a #5 1/2 dip pen, completely freehand.
Sometimes it's better not to ask.

Heehee. I went to Costco with Stacey (Rare for me) but it was worth it. First off, I picked the champaigne for New Years and it's impressive. Since I figure New Years company is likely to involve Jon and Peggy, I found the most unbelievably ridiculously named one ever. I kid you not, It is, 'Blanco du Noir' It's a white champaigne made from black grapes. White of Black! If only it were 'Du Mort' :)

Anyhow... The second thing that made the trip worth going was 'Mickey Mouse in Black and White' (volume 2) 1928-1935 Five an a half hours of daus maus being pleasantly aggressive, weird, and surreal.

I'm about 5 cartoons into it and my observations so far are this:

  • Whistling is easier than lip synch so Mickey Whistles a lot.
  • Spitting, udders, and dentures are very funny things. All of those are in every single episode so far.
  • A badly tuned/off key instrument is better than a tuned one (Or Disney was tone deaf)
  • Walt was a disgusting filthy pervert. (And I mean this is the nicest way! :) The lovingly animated flaps of flesh on the back of fat calves flapping as a woman dances, or Mickey squirting a cow in the face with milk from her own udder. Great stuff!
  • Anything that can be animated mechanically shouldn't. Everything that can move has a music to it; a style of dancing. Find that and use it. It looks better than technical accuracy.

More later if I think of anything interesting to add.
