Someone on freecycle in Santa Cruz offered up a Kombucha scoby. Why not? I like mushrooms. I may as well go full on crunchy granola hippy and grow my own kombucha. Once you get past the shock and horror of drinking kombucha, it's really not so bad. :D ... I'm definitely back in Santa Cruz. :)

Is it actually a mushroom? I've never been entirely clear on that.

I like tart fermented drinks, too. ^^

It's a scoby. (Symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast) It's similar to sour dough and mother vinegar.
