Today is my first day back working in the SF office. Because traffic looked bad going towards 17, we took 9 out to 280. On the way there was a car behind us that wanted to go faster than us so we pulled out to let them pass. Just as we were doing that, I spied a large cluster of Chicken of the Woods on a tree by the road. So I hopped out of the car and ran back to get them. Turned out the tree was hollow and the inside was full of them and they were all at the perfect firmness/size for harvesting. *JOY* I'd just run out of frozen from last year and was down to dried. After accidentally not picking the chanterelles I found next week, this was huge win. :) Mmmm. Delicious orange chicken-flavored mushrooms!
