If anyone is wondering where I am, I am at work. I am always at work, there is no life, only work. I get up in about six hours and I will be at work. Moday 14 hours, today only 12. Maybe tomorrow I'll be done to 10. I love sims. I guess it is pretty exciting really. Much as I angst about art, I really do enjoy my job and the type of work I do. I love to paint and such. Its more than a hobby. Very much a passion, but when I'm in the moment and programming and keeping everything together and navigating a network of systems at the press of a button to make everything just magically happen for the users and they sit slack-jawed in awe that it all works... I really enjoy that. I'm a lowly peon in the art world but in my own domain I am a goddess.

I took a nap and am watching Dead Poets SocietyL now. Haven't seen it in a long time. I'd be interested in hearing [livejournal.com profile] cargoweasel do a review of it. It seems like a movie he'd either really enjoy or really hate. Certain things about the visual storytelling method in it feel rather dated but the story itself is still pretty fresh... Except with the total throw-away object'de'desire girl. Complete with pink angora sweater and suzie-homemaker prudish cut clothing and perfect hair. This movie would have been way better if they'd cut her out entirely and the boys had gone gay in the cave and had wild heathen orgies...

I would like to see this movie compared with say Fight club, which I have not seen but have heard enough about to think there are some interesting parallels between this and that. Anyhow, I should go be unconscious so that I can be conscious again soon.

I saw dead poets society when it was in the theater, like 15 years ago. It was OK. I thought it a tad overblown but entertaining enough.

It really had a profound effect on a friend of mine at the time, he would jump up on tables in the cafeteria and quote Shakespeare.

Er, he was kind of a dork.

A quick comment on Fight Club. >>

To date, every female I've ever talked to who's seen it has dumped it into the category of "fight movie", while every guy I've talked to has dumped it into "social commentary". (I put it as "social commentary while beating people up".)

Now, you go watch it, 'cause I want your opinion. ^_^

Also, I will note that it's worth reading the book, as well. It has a feel to it that's hard to duplicate out of print. Though, I felt the movie did a darn good job. If nothing else, the end of the book is worth reading to see the differences.
