I think I'm going to name the water heater GIRRRRRRRRRR. It worked in the pre-sale walkthrough but was dead when we moved in. Still under warranty of course so the water heater company sent us a new thermocouple (the most likely part to be broken) The first package got destroyed by FedEx (Had a gaping hole through the package!) So they sent us another. That of course, did not work. So they sent us the thermostat with no instructions. Brilliant. It screws into the tank. So... turns out the drain valve drains about 1 gallon per hour. We finally got it reassembled and turned it on and... Hmm. That's not a good smell. A little soapy water told us that the flexible gas line had cracked. >_< So we replace that and then the pilot light won't start it. So we disconnect the pilot line and blow it out suspecting we somehow got some moisture in the line. ... All through this project I'd been telling Stacey (who was working on the gas lines) not to blow us up. So... Naturally, because we'd flooded the burn chamber a little bit and I'd hyper oxygenated it, when we hit the pilot to clear it (gas was off) *BOOM* ... But then it worked just fine on the next light and is still working. So apparently in it's little head it was going Awww! I wanted to explode! Lots of GRRR though. I can't count how many hours we've been delayed working on the silly thing. Ohwell tho.

The roll away closet storage on the other hand went together really well. We ended up using a pair of the stainless rolling kitchen carts and some 1" conduit a few connectors, and a pipe bender. Bent the conduit to make a U, added a connector to the top of each U for the crossbar, and dropped the conduit down over the tops of the kitchen carts. Really really happy with how this project has turned out. I'll get photos soon but we're ending up with about twice as much storage as the closet in our old house plus all the carts are on wheels so if we need to, we can roll them into the master bedroom and use the little room as a guest room for a short time.

Anyhow.. Time for me to get back to work. I'm building a raised bedframe next so that we can use the space under the bed as a storage cabinet. It's the last big project to do before we finish moving in. Things are looking great so far. While this house isn't any bigger than our apartment (not counting the yard and basement) the layout and a few design choices are going to make us use the space a LOT more efficiently. I'm really really liking this house. :)

Aww, but if you don't know how to hook up the cylinders, how would we ever have gotten our clothes dry? Funny, though, really the propane smell has me feeling really at home. We refilled our tank and that's how we had warm clothes. Getting delivery was only for really rich people. Of course, we also only had wood heating... That wouldn't be acceptable anymore.

Now that everything works - okay, almost, but I have all the parts! (Okay, we forgot to get a 2x6 to mount the thing on.) I'll get a chimney guy to inspect the flue when they come to give me an estimate on the fireplace.
