About 2009

Everyone posted a year in review a week or so ago. On the whole, it seems most of my friends aren't that thrilled with 2009.

For me it was mixed. On the whole, I thing is was pretty good. I think my biggest lack for 2009 is that I don't feel like the quality of my art improved as much as I'd have liked. I spent more time this year not drawing and that's kind of bad and I'll be working on fixing it.

Of course, that's not to say I wasn't busy. I did a lot of pretty interesting sewing and started going in directions I hadn't gone before. Designing more of my own patterns and going further by feel instead of by the book. I still don't feel like I'm back to the skill level I was at as a teen but it's been nice to pick that up and see it improving.

In terms of being social and being more of a public figure is, I think where my biggest growth has been. I've taken more vacation time this past year than in the past 2 or 3 combined and I've had a really excellent time camping and at Burning Man.

Related to this, I've been building bigger and more exotic physical world things instead of just drawing and Stacey and I have been working together on more projects and finding that for structural art, our skill sets seem to combine really well so that's been a great improvement in our relationship. We're working together on things. It makes me outrageously happy.

There's also the house thing. Technically, the purchase is going to happen in 2010 but all the major work was done in 2009. It's going to be a big change but I think it's going to be a pretty positive one one, and just that we've got this far is kind of surreal to me. I never really thought I'd be able to swing a place of my own in a place where I actually wanted to live.

All in all, not bad.

I owe you a big thank you. My 2009 largely sucked, but there were some pretty good moments in there too, and you were around for a lot of 'em if not actively responsible for them happening. *hug*

Nah. I only love you because you're awesome. Anything I did was just a reflection of that.

Thanks. But I still feel like giving credit is a good thing, y'know?
