So, of course, all the right whingers are screaming their support for Joe Wilson, blatantly ignoring that at the bare minimum, he's rude, unprofessional, and ignorant.

Check this out:

http://www.emaxhealth.com/1275/121/33350/mexico-offers-health-insurance-migrants-united-states.html

Now... Let's do a little mental exercise here...

If he's doing his job in a competent and intelligent manner and he really gives a flying fuck about immigrants and healthcare, doesn't it seem rather likely that he'd know about this, or are us plebes on the internet better informed and more competent to perform his job than he is?

So, for the sake of argument, let's pretend he's even remotely competent at his job. Now consider his actions in that context: Here's a man doing everything he can to insure that the average american will have LESS healthcare than illegal immigrants.

IE he's a bold-faced fucking liar that is accusing Mr. Obama of a lesser offense to the American public than he himself is committing.

It really amazes me how fucking ignorant most of the right wing base is. Wake up. These guys will slit your throat just to add another nickel to their millions.

But hey! Are you still stupid enough to believe he's on your side and that he cares about you?

Let's look at a few numbers:

So...... Which of those contributors to his campaign represents you? "Health Professionals"? Lawyers? Real Estate? PACs? Lobbyists?

Ya'know... Personally, I don't see anyone I know on that list. How about you?

So, I've got someone in another thread here in LJ claiming that Joe Wilson was "Just calling a spade a spade." Which I love to no end, because this dipshit used a racial slur against black people, apparently, without knowing it. My torture of the fool ensues.

You should present them with this information and ask them whether they think Addison Graves Wilson (who is apparently so dishonest he can't even use his real name) is utterly incompetent at his job and didn't know about about Mexico's healthcare coverage for Mexicans living in the US. Not to mention he apparently couldn't read the section of this section 246 of the house bill titled, NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS and contains the following:
Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.

(from here: http://energycommerce.house.gov/Press_111/20090714/aahca.pdf )

OR if he's a bold-faced liar who knew about it and secretly wants the average American to have less health coverage than migrant workers.

Please be sure to video record it in case they explode. We could turn that into big fame on YouTube.

One twisted argument I heard goes like this:

The bill uses the phrase "nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments [to undocumented aliens]" .. it does not specifically DISALLOW or FORBID them so therefore one could theoretically provide such payments elsewhere in the bill or in another bill.

Knowing how screwed up legal arguments can be that argument might be valid.

Yeah, because... That's how laws are written. You don't want to forbid things outright, creating new law or new cases.

A law saying 'no money shall pay for for illegal aliens' could be used to sue the INS for providing (admittedly shitty) medical care or whatever for people they're holding.

Besides, none of our other laws have enforcement provisions for how to deal with people who aren't qualified. Medicaid, Medicare, the Veterans Administration, Federal Housing, etc.

And now they're whining that we shouldn't allow immigrants to buy health insurance, either.

Damn, that's just pure vindictiveness and bigotry there. Gives me the same chill up my spine as when there's an incident with Mexicans dying while being smuggled into America inside a stifling truck trailer or something, and some monster writes a letter to the paper saying something like "Good, they deserved it for Breaking The LAW."

Given that Wilson is also a member of "Sons of the Confederacy," this action gets more and more assholish (yet entertaining) with each moment.
