*shudder*

"All You Zombies" by Robert A. Heinlein...

*shudder*

Heinlein writing tranny fantasy...

Urge to shove soldering iron up my nose and swirl it around rising.

Are you a masochist? Try this: http://escapepod.org/2009/07/02/ep-200-all-you-zombies/

I mean aside from Heinlein's general crappy writing and dunderheaded failure at writing female characters, the story appears to be based on a RAY STEVENS SONG.

I think this is definitive proof that there is no God. No loving and merciful God would allow this to exist.

This story just gets worse and worse and more and more predictable.

Ugh, I was just about to reply mentioning this one too. I'm so sorry to hear you had the misfortune of reading it as well.

Heinlein can NOT write women, period. The "accidental HBS" character he creates in "I will fear no evil." is like a handbook for misogyny. Utter failtastic.

I won't fear any evil, but I fear the dark place a story like that came from.

This one is exceptionally vile. The time-traveling-transsexual rapes his/her younger self because he knows she was asking for it.

I thought The Hooters did "All you Zombies" (which is an awesome song).

The opening sounds like noir. No thanks. Heinlein doing noir just sets my teeth on edge.

Noir with a time-traveling transsexual who rapes his/herself and that somehow justifies rape. The future male self goes on a nice little tirade at the past female self about what a slut she was and how she was asking for it.

It's all kinds of awful.

appears to be based on a Ray Stevens song

Is that 'The Streak' or 'Gitarzan'?

[identity profile] dv-girl.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
No. "I'm my own grandpa" It's referenced by name in this story.

Though, in defense of Ray Stevens, it appears he just covered the song, not wrote it.
