... You'd be amazed how much damage you can do to your thumb with a meat cleaver...

Oh, geeze. I hope it's still in one piece and attached!

Yeah. I wasn't chopping with it, just pressing down on a potato and it slid off sideways. Still cut all the way to the bone. Pretty impressive and frightening given how little force was involved.

No, I wouldn't be amazed if you're talking about the same cleaver I think you're talking about. Hope you recover quickly from this.

Yikes. I hope you've gotten it taken care of.

It was a lengthwise cut in the side. Probably going to have a fairly impressive scar but there shouldn't be too much motor or nerve damage.

Mostly I'm just feeling rather stupid. I haven't cut myself in the kitchen in years and I really know better than to get my fingers near the underside of a blade. This was just pure stupid.

I think my pride is hurt more than my hand all in all.

I imagine you were still out of sorts from the cold, and weren't taking the sort of precaution you normally would. Hopefully it won't affect your dexterity any... you went to a doctor, I hope.

That's a strange coincidence, I also cut my finger while cutting some broccoli yesterday. Not a very deep cut though.

I don't think most would be surprised... Nothing that needed stitches/will need physical therapy I hope.

I don't think so, it bled pretty clean and sealed up alright. Getting her to let me keep it clean will be the hard part.

You live near San Francisco, surely there is a one stop shopping solution for comfortable handcuffs, cotton balls, and hydrogen peroxide.
