Haven't uploaded any artwork for a while but I also don't have time to really dump most of the good stuff in my sketchbook, so here's just a few random pages.

I drew this a few weeks before the actor died and then felt hesitant to post it.

Presented without comment or apology, the spawn of [livejournal.com profile] prickvixen's loins: BEAUTIFUL MEATBALL

A random abstract thing I did to play around with using watercolor pencil and see how bad it would ruin my sketchbook pages.

I have a feeling that even if I knew what was going on in this drawing, I couldn't tell you. It started out as unrelated scribbles on a couple of adjacent pages and grew into this.

More fiddling around with watercolor pencils.

And just for a change of pace, a rather nice and completely heteronormative old man working on a miniature set in his garage. I'd swap him for my grandfather.

Wow, serious Vaughn Bode vibes off of number four. And I'm already searching through unreal-estate listings for an apartment close to number three. Is the general public allowed to harvest those, or are they a protected species?

I fear that some of the people who read my journal will be so young as to not know who Mr. Bill is. :)

Yeah, that last one is pretty idyllic in its own way.

Yeah. I see what you mean on #4. Ashy mentioned it as well. I think it's the spaceship that's really pushing it over into that space. Well, and the general weirdness of it. :)

Not sure about the other things. I think they're already part of a corporate harvesting project but I generally condone swiping things from large multi-dimensional corporations.

That one really spoke to me in interesting ways when I was working on it. Like he's got his glasses on his pocket because he's too proud to wear them most of the time and the pin-up calendar on the wall and stuff. I imagine he's building a scale model for the county fair.

Not sure where he came from. He's not an art style or subject that I'd normally be into. (Well except for the models)

It's possible he's due to Jeff and Kenny. Jeff has a model train set up in his garage and a whole bunch of different engines and cars and things.

You're just lucky I misspent so much of my youth in front of reruns.

I'd love to see a larger expanded alien garden as in #3

Well, he is appearing/has appeared in recent MasterCard commercials.

Although I suspect those commercials are/were aimed at people old enough to remember the original Mr. Bill SNL sketches.

You know that I really wanted a model railroad when I was a kid, right? I still think it's something that could be physically engineered at some point if I ever get the money. Anyway, that's sort of how I wanted to get old, though I don't think that's how it will play out.

Possibly because I'm on a mailing list that heavily features the activities of older men who like to build scale models, your last picture really touches me. :) There's just something so sweet about his expression (and the mildly naughty pin-up and tools) that it really sticks in my mind, I've been thinking about it on and off the whole day.
