Wish

If I had one wish, it would be that I was me when I was younger.

Sure, we're all collections of our experiences, and I have some GREAT experiences that have made me who I am now... But I also had a lot of dead time and insecurity. I have met a lot of people that are like the me I am now that were like that when they were teens. Always smart, always doing stuff, never insecure. I had to take the long road to get here.

I've been trying to impartially observe my life for the past few weeks and what I'm seeing, I really REALLY like. I'm not usually this much of an ego, but I'm going to say it. I'm really friggin' awesome! There's still plenty of room for improvement, but what I am and what I will be is fantastic. I love me!

I'm also really happy with the turn the US is taking. I think maybe it's not just me, but the entire country is waking up and changing into something new and better. Time will tell, but I've just got this feeling that I've never had before... Is it optimism?

I think a lot of people are feeling that way with the inaug of Obama. People are seeing things change in a huge black dude is president way no more crusty white guys for (hopefully) at least 4 years. People are acting on it which is also huge. People are looking to find ways to help. Could be something like optimism and more!

Hell. Let's just believe. The psychic energy it can put into the world can only work for good.

*smiles* Yes. This is just about how I feel as well. Some days, I really get upset dealing with the fact that I'm on the long road. But damnit... I'm going to just keep walking. It doesn't matter how long it takes me to get wherever it is that I'm going.
