Though it looks like it's only reading what's happening optically, but still. How long before we can truly see what is behind on another's eyes.

Mind you. Cool possibilities for having an in-head head's-up display and for always having a camera with you and playing Solitaire while driving and other foolish things.

So far they've just taught it to recognize the pattern of activated neurons that match pictures. Turning that back into pictures is the new step.

There are devices that can tell what you're looking at via brainwave, devices that you can teach people to use as pointed on a screen, devices that interface directly and can be taught separately, devices that can note the 'aha' moment triggered by memory association, and such.
