I'm sure you have all read the news story about the McCain supporter that carved a backwards B in her face and claimed it was an Obama supporter that did it.

I agree with the police. It was fake. There's no two ways about it. Encyclopedia Brown could give you a dozen reasons. This story is straight out of 'To Kill a Mocking Bird'
In fact, actually, it alarms me because it's so obviously fake that it seems like no one could really be that stupid.

Let's look at the details.
B is backwards. You see that and automatically think, "She did it in a mirror."

We can be pretty sure it wasn't an attacker being 'clever' to set her up for this embarrassment because of several details:

No marks indicating she was being held. Would you lie there placidly while being sliced up? Most assailants would be experiencing an endorphin rush and holding too tight so marks are more likely. Also, those lines are pretty straight and shallow, judging by the picture. Barely more than a scratch. Likely not enough to scar.

The really damning bit that it was self-inflicted though is that it's on her right cheek. Most people are right-handed and, just like in To Kill A Mocking Bird the damage would be more likely to be on the left if it were a real assault.

The black eye is also pretty condemning both because it is very minor and because it's on her left. An attacker would probably use the same hand to hit as to cut and there's a certain artistic symmetry to having damage on both sides of her face. It covers more area. Makes her look more 'beat up' without as much hurting.

Lastly, why would they cut a B? An O would be faster, more violent, and less chance of 'getting caught'.

The letter is what really bothers me. Sure, B can be 'Barak', 'oBama' or 'Black' or it could be 'Bitch' if it was an aggressor but... Like I said. This tingles my tinfoil hat. It's a little TOO obviously fake to even someone who's read a few books, let alone police who are experienced in this sort of stuff. An O can't be backwards.

I have a hard time believing anyone is quite that stupid and you can bet that 9 out of 10 Republicans will believe the 'devious woman' stereotype over the 'conservatives are stupid' stereotype. I mean, I have a predisposition to thinking conservatives are stupid and I'm skeptical of it.

Regardless of which party this person supports, she is obviously mentally ill and counting on the increasing panic leading up to the election to provoke some kind of response. She's a bomb that could detonate on either party. Both sides would be wise to say something like, "We aren't privy to the internal information of the Pittsburgh Police." and put as much distance between her and them as possible.

The simplest explanation is usually the right one, so it's marginally more probable that she's a stupid conservative.

However, if someone were really DEEPLY pathological and aiming to sink McCain, joining is campaign, and faking an attack on a white woman by a black man in front of an ATM video camera with easy-to-spot mistakes in your story, is probably a pretty good strategy.

On the other hand, if you were really really really clever, you'd know they'd spot it and that we'd be skeptical of that so you'd possibly score for McCain. There's the first shock negative for Obama, the rally for Obama, and then the crush when your secret affiliation with Obama is hinted at by the tinfoil hats, again favoring McCain. Strategically, you get the first and last blow and McCain comes out on top.

Of course, you would have known that I'd know that they'd know that they'd know and knowing this, you'd know that I'd know you let it been known so you obviously couldn't chose the candidate in front of you and I clearly couldn't chose the candidate in front of me. And as everyone knows, I'm quoting the Princess Bride, which most lefties have seen, so I might rely on my great wit to quote movies but also, being a film student, I would know that movies lie so... OH! What's that over there!

HAhahahaha! See, you made one fatal mistake. Only slightly less known to conservatives than 'Never fight a land war in Asia' is this! 'Never have a battle of wits with DV_Girl when her tinfoil hat is online!' Hahaha! Ahahahahahahaha!!!! *THUNK*
