The local Longs was closing out its summer stuff and one of the things they had were LED lights for an outdoor umbrella at a huge markdown.

Decided to put them on the ceiling in my studio.

It's been interesting so far. Everyone who sees them seems to see something different. What do you think it looks like?

Do you remember the episode of "The Outer Limits" where an optometrist is asked by an alien to make it a special lens? It reminds me of that alien.

My first thought on seeing it was that DV_Girl had been playing with a fractal art program. I was surprised to read it was a photograph of something real!

I can all but see an overlay showing trade routs and little spaceships moving from star to star through this strange cluster.

My own bedroom ceiling is dotted and spattered with glow in the dark paint, a faux night sky for me to look up at while I fall asleep.

Our bedroom ceiling is sort of like that except it has big plastic glow in the dark stars. :) I've done dots of paint before too. :) Though I confess that I'd never have thought of it on my own. I lived in a house in Santa Cruz for a while that stunned me when I first moved in because the bedroom was all painted with glow in the dark paint that was 'invisible' during the daylight. It was so amazing and beautiful that I've kept the idea and re-distributed to every house I've lived in since. :)

that's interestingly close to how my partner said she saw it. I did it as this sort of weird stylized sun that I've been painting on my body with that invisible dye I like.

The one on the celing.. Everyone finds it interesting, but everyone is seeing something different in it. :) I'm really enjoying that. :)

Um *blush*. The design that Arthur Brown had painted on himself during performances of his 1969 hit, "Fire."

Second thought:

GUL MADRED: "How many lights do you see on the ceiling above me?"

CAPT. PICARD: "Um... give me a few minutes..."
