I think this is a great model of how some people see the world.


A child, unfamiliar with adult terms wouldn't see anything wrong with this video other than being confused by the annoying bleeps. However, as adults, we know lots of dirty phrases. Moreover, we're used to the bleep being used for swear words so our brains are auto-completing filthy dirty naughty stuff that isn't there.

I think this is what right-wingers are doing all the time. Reading a bunch of dirtiness and shame into stuff that isn't there; passing the entire world through their distorted lens.

and, additionally, people are reluctant to admit that they are wrong (all people, on the whole). So, when someone suggests that they are reading too much into something, seeing something wrong and shameful where there is nothing to be seen, they tend to get even more aggressive in their attacks.
From this comes the attitude of "I am ashamed / grossed out / morally offended by (for example) Gays. If you are not, then you are attacking my beliefs." Which leads to all kinds of fun stuff.
