On the way home, I found a large flush of mushrooms. I'm still working on identifying them but at this point, I'm fairly certain they're Agaricus Campestris. If not, they're almost certainly another of the edible Agaricus. They have caps about 4-5" wide, light white or greyish gills, and dark brown spores. Scent is very mushroomy. Taste is also mushroomy/quite good if you like mushrooms. (Due to spore color, there's no possible confusion with anything deadly so I felt a small taste was acceptable) No staining or brusing reactions. The cap I picked was older and cracked. I'll get a younger specimen tomorrow.

Not that mushroom identification and consumption is not a valid hobby but... it is not a valid hobby. Please do not continue to consume wild mushrooms. By all means identify them if it pleases you, but if you intend to consume them, plese pursue some sort of formal education into what mushrooms are good to eat. It will make ff00ff feel better if you do.

Aw. Don't worry hon. I really have no intention of killing myself. Anyone that's ever gone hiking with me iRL knows this is standard behavior for me. I'm always sticking things in my mouth but I'm careful about not just properly identifying things but also testing them before actually trying to eat them.

If it puts you at ease though, I'm not likely to be making a pizza out of strange mushrooms just because I believe I know what they are and a very small taste hasn't killed me. I'm cavalier, not suicidal. :)
