You know. I always feel like I should be doing more to piss off the religious right but... I have to say, it's going to be hard for me to match J. K. Rowlings on that front. I mean.. There was already all the magic stuff but now apparently she's outed Dumbledore. Awesome!

The thing I hate about this was that before, the Christian right had to sound like the loonies they are when denouncing Harry Potter, they couldn't do it without someone saying "Wait, so you think whichcraft is real?" Basically any fundie who opened their mouth about this marked themselves as an irredeemable idiot. Now they'll have a more convenient reason to site why Harry Potter is evil: The homosexual agenda!!!one!11! Which is unfortunately a more popular thing to hate, and take seriously than witches.

Still, Dumbledore is a respectable character, and not so strait laced that you couldn't call queer, either. So hooray for casually gay characters in children's literature.

Meh. They'll still find ways to be asshats. See: He's gay and now he's dead.

I kind of wish that the Peter Tatchell wasn't in there. Yay for Dumbledore is gay. Yay for audience liking this. Yay for casual warm acceptance. The campaigner's addition had a slightly sour taste of, 'We're everywhere! Pay attention to us! Dumbledore wasn't flaming enough!" Any worse, and he'd sound like a Harry/Hermione shipper.
