I was going to reply in there, but it'd be preaching to the choir, if you'll excuse the saying. If anything is going to be done, it has to be a judo move. Instead of opposing them by blocking, you accept their move, grab it, and continue through. Telling them that they're flat out wrong, while honest, won't accomplish much. Rallying them to actually follow their supposed beliefs, however, might. This is a rough draft, but there's a bit of potential in it...

I've never been able to figure that out. Does their view of God have a being so insecure that they have to praise Him at every turn? Is their faith so weak that things like evolution or the earth going around the sun will threaten it? Do they honestly believe that God is a petty 6 year old more concerned with waving a flag than with helping the needy? Is He really so impotent that madmen must act in His stead?

I think they realized that while the meek might inherit the Earth, the rest of us would inherit the stars. In effect, if science is the new god, they are the ones who will be Left Behind.

They can't cope with that, so the only other option is to destroy the future for the rest of us.

Also. Random interesting bit of trivia. Did you know that the word "bigot" originally meant, "Overly pious and hypocritical"? Bigot being a slur of "bi got", "by God" in English.

Ergo, one can safely say that all of the people in this video are bigots.


More seriously, I often suspect that they're so loudly pushy about their religion because they're having a hard time believing it themselves. Criminals often get caught this way. They have to keep telling everyone they're not guilty to the point of making themselves seem suspicious. I suspect that most zealots are agnostics that are having a very hard time dealing with their agnosticism.
