Some collision of listening to Edgar Allen Poe's Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar and watching old Vincent Price movies and Popeye and Felix has lead me to a rather silly idea. Was Felix but only a dream walking?

Consider it for a moment... The weird surreal strange otherworldly qualities of Felix. Then consider the name of his creator. One Otto Messmer. Today, of course, that name doesn't seem peculiar at all but a century ago it might sound different. Mesmerism became known more commonly as hypnotism. ... Otto Messmer. Auto Mesmer. Self hypnosis.

In MonkeyBone the plot of the story was that while the artist was in Down Town, MonkeyBone had control of his body... What if did the same thing and perhaps the name Otto Messmer was just a little joke.

-------

Okay. That's my two minutes of insanity for the day. :) Just thought it was a fun idea. Might even make a good story or something. Although, as I pointed out, I think Monkeybone might have beat me to it.

You're in total Alan Moore villain territory there. I really like it!

Well. In the case of M Valdemar (Voldemort? Hmmm. Tangent!)
the idea is that through hypnotism at the moment of death, the consciousness of the deceased can stay in this world and indeed, it appears to work at first... A voice from the land of dreams and the land of the dead.

I have kissed MonkeyBone.

Well... His mouth anyhow...

One of my animation instructors worked on MonkeyBone and he brought in a set of the replacement mouths they used to do MonkeyBone's lip sync and passed them around for us to look at. There was a kissy-face one so I AAAAAAWWWWWW!!! And gave it a big smooch. (Which he thought was hilarious but most of the rest of the class found... disturbing somehow)

I have it on DVD. I actually think it's a great film though it needed to spend all of its time in DownTown IMO. :)

I also have it on DVD. :)

And yeah... more DownTown would have been great. Then again, I would have paid full price for 2 hours of staring at the catgirl. :)

I preferred the wasp myself. Kitty was okay. I found Hypnos strangely attractive (in that way that disgusting rutting fauns are inexplicably appealing)

Heh.

I did the best I could, given that I have no goat-related icons, and I can't get to YouTube at work to dig up Bill Hicks' actual "GoatBoy" clip. :)
