OMFG I _LOVE_ Maya! Last night I used the NURBS sculpting tool for the first time! It is amazingly unbelievably utterly fantastic in combination with my Wacom tablet!

The last time I tried to make anything in a 3D animation program it was such a major pain in the butt I had to sculpt everything out of polygonal objects and deform them and logically OR and AND them to get what I wanted and they ALWAYS had unpredictable results and would spaz out. Maya NURBS sculpting is like modeling clay. It is _SO_ easy!!!

My very first sculpture in Maya!

EDIT: Darnit! LJ won't let me embed flash.

So far I am just totally ecstatic with Maya! It's fantastic! I also haven't yet had a single glitch hiccup or crash. *drool* and the programming language is almost identical to one of the languages I use at work, so I can already add my own wonky modules to it. I'm in hog heaven!

More later as I learn it! bye for now!!! :)

On www.wacom.com there is a 'which wacom tablet is right for you?' quiz type thing. It has been accurate for the tablet I got ofr myself and the tablet we got for Stacey, though I already knew what tablets we wanted anyhow. :)

I was wondering about tablets, do you have the Intuos or the Graphire? and what size?

Nice work on the modelling btw. I know nothing of this 3-d stuff.

I have an Intuos 2 6x8" which I love to death.
I had an old Intuos 12x12 that I got for free but it was really too big for me (and only worked on PCs) so I got this one about three months ago. It's much higher resolution and such. I really like it.

Stacey has a 4x5 grapphire (the $99 wacom tablet) and it is actually somewhat better suited to her stroke-length/ drawing sensitivity. So... sorta varies with what you're doing I guess.
