I wonder how long before someone thinks it'd be a good idea to make a drug that simulates this deficiency and 90% of americans are walking around as hulking horrors.

Yeah. That had crossed my mind too. Americans are already gross over-consumers and this would give us yet another excuse to gorge.

Worth considering though that this appears to affect all muscles equally, and there are a lot of muscles you wouldn't really want being bulked up like that. The heart comes to mind.

Oh. It doesn't affect the heart. How interesting.

Yah. Note how all the people mentioned have some sort of health problem, particularly with the heart. Mind you, a total lack of muscle ain't good either. Ah well. Balance. I still cling to the incorrect belief to change one's body as least as possible, that a lot of our bodies work the way they do is because they've been field tested for ages. Evolution is very effective in the long run, despite being random in the short term, and our short term solutions don't take long term side effects into account. (Disclaimer: this belief is flawed, and should not be applied to others. It's an unproven hypothesis)

Also, it now just reminded me of Carol Lay's comics.
