OH NOES! HOLLYWOOD LIBERALS!
Jun. 30th, 2007 12:01 amThis is so great!
Oh for the days when TV and movie stars weren't spineless cowards and were quick to make light of any situation instead of half-heartedly parroting dogmatic agenda. Contrary to the shrill conservative media, many drugs will not destroy your life kids or turn you into a crazed addict. I smoked pot fairly regularly for a few years in my life. During which time I held down a mentally stimulating tech job and a 4.0GPA at college. I stopped doing it, not for fear it was becoming 'addictive' but rather because it was a gateway drug to TOLERATING YOUR MISERABLE FUCKING MAINSTREAM CULTURE. Sorry. I've got better things to do with my life than watch prime-time TV.
And, for the other side of the culture war surrounding drugs, there's that. Marijuana isn't the devil, nor is it the best thing ever. It's just another diversion, not really any different from World of Warcraft or Religion. It's not really my thing. I was using it due to the hype about it expanding your view. I didn't really find anything there I couldn't find without it. It was fun, but more often than not, I was ready to be done with the experience after about 15 minutes and quietly dreaded the next couple hours I'd waste watching TV instead.
And that's what I really liked about this number. Take it or leave it. It's not really any different from all the other stuff people use to distract themselves, but seriously. Anything is better than the paranoid fire-and-brimstone scared-straight nonsense. Taboos create mystique and allure.

Smoking or driving while using a cell phone? Drinks with friends on the weekend or coffee and donuts every day? Ecstacy or scented tampons?
For my money, heroine, cocaine, crack, meth, etc are right out. They appeal me about as much as becoming a Born Again, Buying Vista, or having 5 kids.

Really, I'd rather not have anything on at all; TV is a complete bandwidth hog for me most of the time. Getting stoned and plopping yourself down in front of the TV is a giant waste of overclocking parts of your brain.
