They can't get any of his profits without a lawyer and depending on what he's making off of them that might come out to being less than legal fees, that is if they are able to prove to a court that they own the copyright to the material, which one would thing is straightforward, but is probably pretty arcane.
Also the "I can't believe they waited until now to complain" argument is one that's valid in a court. Goldman's representation in court could argue that the artists in question abandoned their commercial rights to their work by not acting sooner.
