No I am not. I eat mostly vegetables and a little meat sometimes, but if you were going to give me the tired drivel about B-12 vitamins, I should note, I really really like Kimchee.
Personally I don't eat a lot of meat, not because I care about furry animals or because of health reasons, but because it's grossly overconsumed and the market for it results in clearing more and more wildlands to either grow crops to feed to cattle or to let cattle forage.
It's simple really. No machine is 100% efficient. Animals are very inefficient machines. So growing soy crops to feed to cattle instead of feeding them directly to humans is extremely inefficient.
However, that's just my personal world view. I actually don't really care what people eat. I've just listened to a few too many asshats drone on and on about how 'stupid' vegetarians are while trying to make excuses for their own poor eating habits.
It also kind of grates on me hearing people say they 'need' something and act out a psycho sematic response to it faster than it could possibly really take effect. I just happen to witness this more frequently with people saying, 'I need meat' than people saying, "I need non-GMO locally and organically grown yucca root". :)
Call it a pet peeve. Like someone saying 'irregaurdlessly' or 'nuke-u-lar'
But we're neither carnivores nor herbivores, or even insectavores. We're omnivores. A little bit of everything. We get to pick and choose. It's also why we don't have the full-size canines of carnivores, nor the extra-long digestive tract of an herbavore. But you know that.
Also, LJ is being funny again. In my friends view, your post is right next to Teekachu's linking to the meatcake.
Meat is overconsumed yes, but gluten and soy allergy/intolerances run in my family in abundance. Pretty much anyone over the age of 50 on my mom's side cannot consume soy or gluten or they go to the hospital.
How is the intolerance triggered? Overconsumption of soy or gluten.
I'll stick to meat until I develop an iron intolerance I think :)
