Some of the rightwingnuts that have been whining incessantly about how un-american it is that this guy is going to get sworn in on the Koran rather than the Bible * can now officially eat it! Check this out!

What is the common phrase on the net these days? Something like
LOL PWNED! I think?

Yes. That will do nicely.

* Personally, I'd rather they swear on the constitution, state charter, or something else meaningful to the country, but that's neither here nor there.

As pointed out on Kos, Jefferson's a filthy terrorist sympathizer.

Of course, there's Jefferson's actual words from the Treaty of Tripoli:

"As the Government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Musselmen; and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."

I'm not sure how that drunk hobo you linked to got what he got out of that statement.

'The Corner' is where Conservatives keep their drunk hobos. (not to insult hobos, drunk or sober)

Now THAT is a politician.

And I forget which founding father would take an oath on a law book, not the bible. But there was one.

I do find it funny that there are Christians screaming about the whole Bible thing but there are other ones who are VERY against swearing, or swearing on the Bible. And there are strong biblical reasons for not doing either. SAme with saying the pledge.

Just totally disregarding the rest of everything, the idea of getting to hold a book that Jefferson actually owned. That is just so utterly cool.
