Where your money goes

Sorry, not humorous. It's a nice pictorial breakdown of where taxes go, since right whingers are always going on about how much is spent on healthcare and such.

Gee. Military is more than the entire rest of the budget combined, and THAT'S if you claim Homeland Defense (30 BILLION DOLLARS) isn't really a part of the military. It's a police state thing. Totally different!

Really puts it in perspective, doesn't it?

It's also disturbing the amount of double billing that appears to be going on in the Military budget as well.

? Each circle represents a pie, with a line leading to the pie that it's from...

This is something I noticed after looking a little deeper into what the 'Operations' budget is.

For each of the Army, Navy and Airforece; Purchase of fuel is billed both in Procurement *and* Operations, and Admin is billed in both Operations *and* Personel, building maintenece is billed both in the Maintence budget *and* Operations. The 'Operations' Budget appears to contain a huge amount of double billing.

I'd like to know specifically where it goes... many units now have very little equipment because they had to leave in Iraq for units that rotated in after them. Don't forget all the cost of the healthcare for the wounded and the payout for the dead. We save a lot more lives than in previous wars but they are also permanent injuries and not all can stay in and continue to serve.
