Sep. 22nd, 2006 10:00 amOh hey. Now you guys can experience a little slice of my childhood in this new movie:

Okay. Honestly, it wasn't quite that extreme on a day to day basis but I did have to go to events that were straight out of this movie. Stupid stuff like martial arts events put on with a hardcore evangelical spin.
This is the future of america. Brainwash those babies!
*sigh*
I don't even need to bother with the comparisons to Hitler Youth, do I?
Edit: If y ou're interested in seeing this film, here's the play list.

It'll be in San francisco in a week and I'll be working in SF that Friday even.
Also, it makes me happy to see that one of the first theatres it opened in was the Southroads 20 in Tulsa. That's like the ONE indy theatre in the whole city and suburbs, and the place I saw several gay and lesbian films in the early 90s. Glad they're still around.

Re: Godwin: Is Osama the new Hitler?
Date: 2006-09-23 05:23 pm (UTC)I don't suppose it ever entered your narrow mind to look at anything other than this very moment and the world we've created. 40 years ago in the US it wasn't uncommon for blacks and the people who supported them to be murdered brutally. There was still a national program of neutering gays and poor people.
40 years ago, Iran was a country where women drove around in convertibles with the tops down and no veils. No, it wasn't great to gays but it was a Hell of a lot better than it is today. It was our government that toppled the one they had and made way for these religious psychos, and they used the very rhetoric that you did. You don't want to be ruled by Iraq, do you? We need to fight them first and then we can talk about your rights.
One need only need look at the past 2000 years of history to see that the christians are no better than the muslims. The thing that has made america different is the freedom to have open debate. To see and challenge new ideas. They very thing that 'patriots' like you oppose because it doesn't fit with your agenda.
Bye troll. You're banned.
