Jun. 21st, 2003 07:01 amEeeg. Another all-nighter and I have to work tonight and I have class soon and a date with Stacey this afternoon. When will I sleep?
But that's not what I'm writing about. I'm here to write about Alice's PDP-10.
Hrm. That's not right either.
Oh! I remember! I was going to sing more praises of the fabulous Macintosh.
Last night I sat down and really learned to use After Effects because I'd learned enough before to know that it was the right tool for the job I was working on. I learned a lot. After Effects is a pretty darned snazzy program. But at one point, I ran out of memory (because I was fiddling with a 35M tiff file as a background) Helpfully, AE told me how to allocate more memory for it... DOH! I'd forgot you get to selectively control the memory of applications on the Mac. So I went into 'Get Info' and... The MAX allocated memory was set to 30M. O_O My machine has 704M of RAM... So I bumped that number up a smidge and suddenly, not only could it read my 35M TIF, but it was running a LOT faster. I opened up Premiere and upped its memory limit similarly. So now my computer is running even FASTER for digital video stuff. *joy*
Speaking of which, my movie is already done rendering and I should put it to take for class and take a shower before I head out! Bai!
