For the first time in like EVER, my mother sent me EXACTLY what I wanted for my birthday! ^_^ Of course, I asked for something kind of odd.

I was so excited I had Stacey open the box for me over the phone just to see if what I wanted was in it. Sure enough, it was!

Stacey described it as, "OMG, this is an ancient-looking video tape, I mean like the kind I remember from when I was a little kid."

Yes, it is indeed an ancient video tape. Recorded from HBO around 1984, it is an _UNCUT_ version of Twice Upon A Time No commercials, no cutting for profanity/'kid friendly' stuff. The full film. You can only buy used copies on VHS that have been cut. They've only ever released the cut version and that was a long time ago. :(

This is my favourite animated film. I'm afraid the tape is probably going to be in pretty bad shape so my viewing tonight will be piped directly to DV tape and from there to my computer to be burned to a DVD so that I'll have a stable copy of it.

I wish this film would come out on DVD so I could buy it. I mean it's not like George Lucas isn't a big name or something. You'd think a film with his name on it would get som distribution.

So that made me really curious

I've never seen/heard of this movie and I ran off to IMDb to look it up. Are you talking about this one- http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086489/?

There's another film c.1979 that has next-to-no info, but I didn't see anything about George Lucas (?).

Curiouser and curiouser (as ever).

That's the one. Twice Upon a Time is like my favourite animated film ever. It's what really got me interested in doing animation and made me realize there were types of animation other than what you see on Saturday morning.
It's interesting that IMDB doesn't mention Lucas on the film. While he had nothing to do with making it (Rather like Steven Speilberg's TinyToons) his name is on the cover of the box.

Oh, it was my impatience- he's listed as exec. producer, I believe it was (I just had to expand the credits and scrooooollll).

Recently, Lucas fans have lost their faith. ;_;
