Pencil Sharpeners

Were is the best place to buy those little metal pencil sharpeners? I animate so I burn through a lot of pencils but almost as fast, I burn through pencil sharpeners. At the art supply store, even a basic metal pencil sharpener is like a dollar, yet I know I've seen people with packages of like 6. Where do you buy em like that?

I don't want the 2-hole type. I'm only using regular width pencils. I like them because they fit in my pocket and are easy to tote around. I don't really want an electric because I go just about everywhere by bicycle so weight is important. Not to mention I go to the beach fairly often and salt water is not friendly to electrics. Not to mention, there's nothing more frustrating than a flat battery.

So. Anyone know where I can buy em in bulk reasonably cheap?

Er, want me to buy them here in Europe and send them to you?

I've actually bought bunches in dollar stores.

Office Depot carries them, but in packs of 4 apiece, and maybe there's some other way to buy in bulk.

Why not buy a manual desk-sharpener? One of those ones with a hole on one end and a crank-handle on the other?
They likely cost more, but it sounds like they could save you money in the long run. Those things are damn-near indestructable. Well, the old ones, anway. Can't go wrong with steel.

Or there's allways mechanical pencils?

I prefer using 2mm lead holders. The convenience of a mechanical pencil, but with a thick lead that won't snap under pressure. They're actually better to carry around in your pocket, because the point can be retracted. The better models have a sharpener built in. The leads are available in everything from 9B to 9H, as well as non-photo blue and other colors.

Same here. I've been using 2mm lead holders for a while, and prefer them to regular pencils. It's like using a standard pencil, but with the advantages a mechanical pen. My pen's got a cushioned grip so I don't destroy my fingers' tendons holding it. And you can sharpen BOTH ends of the lead, too. So it's like having two sharpened pencils in one:
