Bugs Bunny is a hare and Elmer Fudd is bald. It's no wonder they were natural enemies.

I still love the new hair colour but it's fading woefully fast. Need to touch it up this weekend. *sulk* I'd hoped that going with the redder purple would mean it'd stay like the reds and pinks do. *sigh* Ohwell. I'm addicted now. Haveta get another bottle soon.

A few hair-brained thoughts.
  • First off, for way too long, I've been one of those, 'I wish I could colour my hair but work might give me a bad time.' people. Now I'm gonna haveta say, 'try it anyhow'. Seriously. Read the next bit and then try going in with a temporary. If anyone really throws a fit, say it was your friend's idea and for a party and you like it but it'll wash out in a few days. You sound mysterious, cool, and popular.
  • Colour your hair on a Friday, or whatever day is furthest from a normal workday for you. That way you've got time to adjust and get confident and a little of the ultra-brightness will have worn off for Monday.
  • Have fun! Go out and do something awsome the first time you colour your hair an odd colour. Have a fun time with it so you're good and confident Monday morning.
  • And this is maybe the most important thing: Be confident at work! Smiles are infectous!
If you are happy and energized about it, someone else is going to have a much harder time pissing in your punchbowl. Middle management sorts pick their targets like schoolyard bullies. They don't go after the cool kids, they go after the shy nervous ones that have a bullseye painted on their back. Ultimately, what's the worst they can do? Tell you to change it back? I squeaked mousily on the 'my job won't let me' excuse for like 15 years. Augh! Better to just try it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, and all that. :)
  • Finally of course, the all-important DISCLAIMER: I'm a software geek in the bay area working at a college so take my advice with a grain of salt. It's probably not applicable for a lot of places/jobs. Mostly I'm just griping at myself for my underconfidence up to now.

That said ... I'm thinking of changing my haircolor when I go fulltime...
