Hiking

Need to get outside. Should go hiking. Somewhere sunny and warm. Probably inland. I'd like to go to my secret beach but it's the wrong phase of the moon, only wishy-washy tides during the day. It'd be passable (assuming no storms at sea), but it wouldn't be the best shell-hunting. Redwoods might be fun but would probably be cold, damp, and dark this time of year. On the other hand, this is the best time to see newts, salamanders, bananaslugs, ferns, and fungii. Eastern hills sound good too. Somewhere with lots of rocky outcrops and some really long trails. Places without a lot of people. I'd like a long hike.

Pack lunches Saturday night, set out Sunday morning, hike all day. Who all would be interested in coming and... what terrain?

Hmm. I just remembered, it's chinese New Year. Hiking around china town and eating dim sum.... Hmmm..... I bet there's probably something going on this weekend. Anyone know?

I'd be interested. There's a park in the Redwoods fairly close to where I live which seems kinda interesting, and there are some pretty cool parks off 35 which I'd like to investigate. Plus the city is always going to be the city, New Year or not.

I still haven't really seen redwood forest; our expedition to some ended up being rather too nocturnal to Appreciate the Majesty.

I vote for things that involve the sun, this time of year. It's still all chilly and darkling.

I'd love to join you. I was thinking a couple days ago I wanted to go hiking, and should ask if you wanted to go hiking this Sunday.

East Bay Hills are nice and green right now from all the rains, and they are generally sunny, if you want to do that. Personally, I'm open to pretty much any place, and think I'm good for a long hike.
