In the category of 'I drew this in Storyboard class. It suxxors but I put it up anyhow.'

These are more for my own reference than anything. Lots of stuff in my sketchbook has no dates attached to it beyond 'sometime in this six month period' so I thought I'd try linking them to LJ. Anyhow enjoy or critique or don't look. :)

Other than that, school was okay. A couple dumb personal angst things that aren't worth mentioning but the class basically seems fun, even if it is another Marty class. :) Anyhow. Way past bedtime and I still need to shower and sleep before I get up again. Night!

I have to say, these are some of the loosest drawings I've seen from you yet. Great progress. :) Stylistically, I like the person on the left. 60's astro-rings taken to an extreme.

Hmm. Peggy said that too. It's funny, I wouldn't normally associate 'loose' with 'good'. I tend to think of it as 'sloppy'. How are you defining it?

More or less though, I think it's just that I was genuinely bored instead of rushing around to study. With classes I've been drawing between 3 and 7 hours a day the last couple of days. I'd be happy if I could keep this up a while.

Loose isn't sloppy as much as just a direct condiut between your right brain and your hand. Things tend to be more free-form and have more "life" to them. Maybe this is due to organic shapes. The demon on the right is a great example, especially evident in the horns. Hmm.. maybe it's difficult to define. Loose just means your left brain isn't thinking about it too much.

And yes, it's slightly sloppy, but it's perfect for roughs, getting an emotion down, etc. My problem, according to my recent teachers, is that I'm too loose, which they said was a whole lot better than being too tight. I need to "rein it in" a bit. Basically, what I do after a rough, is to tighten up, go in for the details, do things that require a bit more thinking. Loose is great for frameworks.
