#$%&(#$%&((!*!!!!!!!!

Gee! That's brilliant!

This stupid MP3 player Stacey got me has some WONDERFUL FEATURES!

Like you can't listen to a file on it via your PC when it's connected via USB and you can't listen to the file on the MP3 player when it's connected to your PC either. So... I make a lot of voice recordings as personal notes. Soo... I transferred the file from the MP3 player to my computer at work. It creates REC files when it does the recording and converts them to MP3 files when you transfer them. Since I was at work, I labeled them and put them back on the MP3 player. BIG FUCKING MISTAKE!!!

It turns out that you can't download MP3s off the player to your computer because THAT MIGHT VIOLATE A COPYRIGHT!

GOSH! We couldn't just LOOK FOR THE WATERMARK in the MP3 and copyprotect only files that are supposed to be copy protected. NOOOOOOOOOOOO! We have to fuck up my personal files!

What's more, it looks like some of the .REC files won't even transfer to my computer properly, they seem to cause the software to hang.

YAY TECHNOLOGY!

You should upload some sound file with your voice to the Internet so those too far away to see you could know at least how sounds your voice.

I'd do it with mine if I didn't have such a dorky voice. :)

I love copy protection. Really.

On a hunch...

I realized that if their copy protection was that stupid, maybe it was REALLY stupid.

I tried renaming one of the .MP3 files to .REC and sure enough, it downloaded. Then I just changed the name back and it plays in iTunes.

In fact, it appears it's stupid enough that I can rename ANYTHING to .MP3 and copy it to the drive. Videos, Word documents, etc.

Now if only it would trasfer my recordings without hanging on some of them. :/

I think iTunes is smart enough to play a music file regardless of what you call it. I'm not entirely sure, though. Things are kinda weird in Mac-land ever since OSX brought back demi-mandatory filename extensions.

If your MP3 player is an iPod, third parties make programs that allow you to drag-and-drop songs off the iPod to the Mac...
