Yesterday I baked pies and then we went to [livejournal.com profile] tugrik and [livejournal.com profile] revar's house and watched TV and ate chinese food and pies. Good to see people and, despite knowing Tor for like a decade, I'd never been to his house so it was kinda neat. Anyhow, there was a compilation of Tank Girl, so I browsed that while people were watching Red Versus Blue *sigh* I've never really got to read enough Tank Girl and I only got through maybe one or two comics worth this time. I need to read all of it, and lots of other things too. I love the abstract, surreal, and post modern but I never seem to make time for it in my life.

I found that I could not read Tank Girl and watch Ameilie at the same time. Good movie. Odd in that I think I'd done just about everything she was depicted as doing in that film. Sorta good to know there are other nuts out there. It blended well with Tank Girl really. Made me a bit wistful and wishing I lead a more interactive life than I do. The thing that really blended between them for me was the way Ameile and the old man traded video tapes contrasted against the way in Tank Girl, one of the writers would just draw or write stuff into the work in progress. It's something I'm missing. I'm always very protective of my work and despite wanting chaos, I seem to keep my internal space very ordered. I think I need to try working on something that is non representational, non-linear, and invitive to others to just add their own bits to it. I think it wants to be somewhat large and probably heavy weight. Illustration board or something. I'll have to clean off my desk and put it back in order first, I suppose.

In the interim, I think I should read some comics.

Mmmm pie.

You can borrow the Tank Girl book next time you come visit. Then you can read it when lawn gnomes aren't distracting you. :)

"Castle Waiting" is great if you enjoy deconstruction of the classic fairy tales.

And everybody needs to try "Finder" at least once.

Sorry, I have double copies of all those. She didn't even like the Courageous Princess. *sigh*

But! She did like The Ghost of Silver Cliffs. I need to find that guy's other books...
