So.. Yesterday I picked up Lori's animation disc and table. She had told me the disc was in bad shape and not to expect much.

It's an early-model acrylic chroma disc. The person who'd had it before her had used an incandescent bulb as a backlight so the milkglass (made of plexiglass) was slightly warped and the pegbars were jammed and one of them was broken in 2 pieces.

So I heated up the back plexy with my hair dryer then reshaped it using my trusty 1960 Websters Unabridged Dictionary. (I swear I use that thing more often as a tool than I do as a dictionary) Next I sanded down the good pegbar and half of the broken one, then pulled the cap on my 2mm drafting pencil sharpener and dropped some grapphite in the tracks and got the pegbars sliding properly. Put the desk back together, changed the lightbulb, and as soon as I get a new pegbar. (~$12 from Chroma) it'll be good as new.

So now I have 2 full 2D stations at my house plus an animation stand, plus all the computer stuff (digital ink and paint) I'm practically a studio. ^_^

Damn, *that's* what I should have gone to swipe from Spümcø before it all vanish(es|ed - I'm not sure). There're some pretty nice animation discs there.

This one is not so bad after a little work. it's a nice 12field and my other one is a 16 field. (Collect the whole set!)

Anyhow. When should I expect you up here BTW? You know, so someone is like home and stuff and I know when to finish cleaning so that I con you into briefly believing that we aren't total slobs. :)

We've got the truck reserved for the 15th. Ashy said "for three days" and I'm not sure if that counts the day it's picked up as day 1 or day 0. It'll be either Thursday or Friday. I'll ask when she wakes up. n.n

I think we'll probably be arriving, mmm, four or five in the afternoon - she's targeted nineish for the departure, we guess about six hours drive, and there are things like thinking about stopping at the Burbank Fatburger on the way out, and figuring that there'll be some other delays along the way...

Also, she wonders if she can park some of her stuff in your garage along with me while she apartment-hunts...

Thanks a *lot* for doing this.

As long as there is space, I don't mind. It's only a one-car garage though. Worst case though, we'd discussed making you the room of Earthquake Death in the House instead. (Basically pulling the bookshelves out from the walls and making room by sectioning off part of the living room with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and a curtain. However, if there were an Earthquake, you'd be killed bout 300lbs of GURPS and Dungeons and Dragons. O_O

Well, I have about fifteen cubic feet of books... I can certainly contribute to a Wall of Earthwuake Death, and be crushed under a lot of sciencefiction and fantasy, an assortment of art books, and ten years of old sketchbooks...

ah i knew you were crafty

Hey hi!

Ya. I guess I'm kind of obsessive compulsive when I have a project. Also, I had an immediate need to put it into action since I'm gonna try to con my friend Jon ( [livejournal.com profile] paka ) into working with me so that I can hit the deadline better. (He also does really nice keys and stays on model far better than I do, so it ups the finished quality. :)

Thanks again and if you ever get lonely for it, you're more than welcome to stop by and visit. :)

PS: Lori, Peggy. Peggy, Lori. ^_^
