Disco Inferno
Sep. 9th, 2004 09:18 amSo.. Yesterday I picked up Lori's animation disc and table. She had told me the disc was in bad shape and not to expect much.
It's an early-model acrylic chroma disc. The person who'd had it before her had used an incandescent bulb as a backlight so the milkglass (made of plexiglass) was slightly warped and the pegbars were jammed and one of them was broken in 2 pieces.
So I heated up the back plexy with my hair dryer then reshaped it using my trusty 1960 Websters Unabridged Dictionary. (I swear I use that thing more often as a tool than I do as a dictionary) Next I sanded down the good pegbar and half of the broken one, then pulled the cap on my 2mm drafting pencil sharpener and dropped some grapphite in the tracks and got the pegbars sliding properly. Put the desk back together, changed the lightbulb, and as soon as I get a new pegbar. (~$12 from Chroma) it'll be good as new.
So now I have 2 full 2D stations at my house plus an animation stand, plus all the computer stuff (digital ink and paint) I'm practically a studio. ^_^

Date: 2004-09-09 06:56 pm (UTC)Anyhow. When should I expect you up here BTW? You know, so someone is like home and stuff and I know when to finish cleaning so that I con you into briefly believing that we aren't total slobs. :)

Date: 2004-09-09 07:05 pm (UTC)I think we'll probably be arriving, mmm, four or five in the afternoon - she's targeted nineish for the departure, we guess about six hours drive, and there are things like thinking about stopping at the Burbank Fatburger on the way out, and figuring that there'll be some other delays along the way...
Also, she wonders if she can park some of her stuff in your garage along with me while she apartment-hunts...
Thanks a *lot* for doing this.

Date: 2004-09-10 12:35 am (UTC)Ya. I guess I'm kind of obsessive compulsive when I have a project. Also, I had an immediate need to put it into action since I'm gonna try to con my friend Jon (
Thanks again and if you ever get lonely for it, you're more than welcome to stop by and visit. :)
PS: Lori, Peggy. Peggy, Lori. ^_^
