Watched Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends last night. First TV I've watched in several weeks. I think I generally liked it, which means it'll probably get canceled quickly. Better review of show at ToonZone Animated in Flash. some of the animation is really cheap and some really good. It was kind of an odd mix. It has kind of an uneven feel and pace but I sort of like it. I LOVE the voice actors though. They're all so of my favourites, particularly the ones for Bloo and Frankie.

Of course, pieces of it are stolen from all over the place. The older brother is very clearly Sid from Toy Story, Will is basically Elmo both in appearance and personality, and Eduardo is pretty obviously from Where the Wild Things Are. The house itself is almost a direct copy of Winchester Mystery House, and Dutchess is clearly the middle-american lack of understanding of Picasso. Eh.

Still. It's nice to see a show with monsters that (so far at least) doesn't focus on gross-out jokes. Also, there's a real softness to the characters. They're friendly and sincere in a way that isn't overly saccarine. *sniffle* I want an imaginary friend! ;-;

On a tangent, I totally lurve Frankie. Great fvoice talent, great character design, AND she likes monstery things and plays with them every day. Hmm. I'm seeing a pattern here. I also really like Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas, and Molly from Bump in the Night. Come to think of it, I also liked Aaah! Real Monsters and even the Beetlejuice cartoon. No wonder I secretly lust for [livejournal.com profile] peganthyrus (Eep! Did I say that out loud?)

Um. anyhow, back on topic... I liked it, not sure if anyone else will. ^_^

You have a secret lust for Peggy?

Pfft, that's so old-school these days. All the cool kids lust after Peggy completely openly.
