When we visited Seattle back in November, I allowed myself to purchase a really tiny ocarina. I've been playing ocarina since about 1989. I still have my first one though it's rather worn and beat up. This one is the smallest I'd ever seen. It has a very bright sound, though it can be rather piercing. On the plus side, it's small enough that I can carry it with me all the time and always have a musical instrument handy.

I'd been meaning to make a necklace to put it on for some time. It'd just been on some black nylon chord since I got it. So.. Friday I went to the bead store, spent way way too long picking out some stuff and viola. An hour or so of fiddling around and I made the first neclace I've made in years. (It's the brown one with the pink, white, and blue beads) I really have to find somewhere cheaper than Global Beads to shop. It was fine for a one-time project but way too pricey to do use regularly.

Icons

I'm really getting tired of my current LJ icon set. I should come up with some new ones. I hate having only five, but I don't really need as many as a paid account and I'm loathe to have my private thoughts show up next to advertisements for dreary dating sites, obnoxious weight-loss ads, and hemorrhoid ointments. Perhaps I should just turn icons off and embed icon-sized images when I feel they're appropriate. Of course, that'd require changing the style and I can't easily do that either. Meh.

Whine whine whine. Okay. Back to work.

This article makes me very sad. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/10/us/10torture.html?hp

Yeah. Maybe it would make our country even more scorned by the rest of the world, but if even a third of that stuff is true, we deserve it.

But worse than that, I can't help but feel like the only people this really protects are the sick twisted sociopaths of the previous administration. Why are we keeping these assholes from facing their day in court?

The smiling guy I'm with in the one photo is Michael Olsen of Zork Magazine. He posted some photos from last night's event and I thought I'd link to them. http://www.flickr.com/photos/zorkmagazine/sets/72157613539566975/ Fun guy and... I have to admit that I have a soft spot for anything named Zork as Zork (the game) was what got me into computers and lead me to where I am now. :)
