Well. I think, unless someone sees something horribly wrong with <A HREF="http://circle.twu.net/animate/pencil/freebird_web.mov>Free as a Bird</A> I am going to leave it in this form for FC. There's lots of things I'd like to do to it, of course but there simply isn't enough time to do them and re-photograph them all. *sigh* I think I could probably get the artwork done, just not the photography and cleanup.
Que sera sera I suppose.
On the other hand, I did get it submitted to the Media Arts competition. Izabella did not submit her animation so luckily I won't be losing for certain. However, the other 'better than me' student did submit something. On the bright side though, I got to look at it and I think I may beat it. He is a much better animator than me BUT, he hasn't got a good sense of composition or visual storytelling. His submission was a pencil test he did a year ago with a cracklique art treatment applied over it. the Cracklique actually obscures a lot of his contour and makes his drawing seem less impressive. The entire thing is also in a wide shot and very static.
He still has pretty darned good physics, but I have some physics, a lot of Z-axis motion, biped, quadruped, and winged motion, character stylization, good visual storytelling skills, a very good story, decent music, and pretty good sound effects. Mine is also all draw where his is loaded into Toonz, to sorta pho-ink it, and mine is about 5 times longer than his. So I think I have a pretty solid chance of beating him. Of course, there could still be someone fantastic from another school, so I shouldn't be counting my chickens just yet, but I'm pretty confident I have the win for as far as submissions from my school go.

FCTV commercials
Jan. 12th, 2004 12:00 pmSo. Taking a short break from the Cat to go back to the Bunny. I've taken over cel-painting and have about 80 frames left to color. Should be done tonight or tomorrow night. Then it's just a little video compositing and it's done.
As for other commercials, I'm way way WAY behind schedule. :/
Letsee. The kitten at the bathroom animation is all rigged and ready
to go. I should be able to finish that in about two nights.
Wheel of Fortune needs a couple more characters and some simple animation. probably knock it out in a night if I really got onto it.
I need to round things out with some more stop-motion animation. I think Orgami and a Strata-clay could both be done in a night once properly planned.
I'd like to do a stop-motion character animation too. I actually have a pretty fun idea for that but it requires a few props and money is a little tight at the moment.
Still need to do animation for YARF too. I don't think it'll be possible to get that done before the con. Haveta do some brainstorming and see if I can come up with any shortcuts for it.
*sigh* so much work to do. Hopefully school comittments won't be too excessive for the next couple of weeks.
