Persimmons!
Nov. 25th, 2002 12:41 pmOkay,
so this is a silly and light-hearted post, but that's okay once ina while, isn't it? :) I was soooo happy yesterday. I have a squirrel friend who uses my back fence as an expressway to get from place to place. Actually, several squirrels do, but there's one squirrel I'm pretty good friends with. He knows that when I'm home, if I see him on the fence, I'll take him a treat, and then he often poses and lets me take photos.
Anyhow, my character on FurryMUCK is named Persimmon because as a child I remembered seeing squirrels feasting on persimmons in the winter. Where I grew up, they were the little wild american persimmons, but here, they grow mostly big asian ones. My neighbors a couple doors up have one of these persimmon trees and yesterday, my friend had apparently managed to filtch himself one of them. :)

I'm not sure how he managed to get it up on the fence, its almost as big as he is, but he let me take a couple photos in exchange for macademias. :) I wish I'd used my film camera or compensated for the backlighting a bit better, but I still think it's a pretty good photo. :)
