Faking Life
Nov. 20th, 2002 12:31 pmWell. I'm getting a lot faster at filming and editing video. I did this project in about 4 hours last night from start to finish. In my class, we'd discussed issues in my previous piece with a lack of reaction shots, flat lighting, and not enough variation in camera angles, so I tried to work out all of those things in this piece. So what is it?
Faking Life is a parody of the movie, 'Waking Life' which ran in theatres about a year or so ago. It won a bunch of awards in animation, which upset a lot of animators, because, no only is it not animated, it's not even rotoscoped. It's just a couple of video filters thrown over a video track. The whole movie is sorta long and tedious, it's like listening to freshmen philosophy students when they've smoked marijuanna. So, I thought, what better way to parody the movie than to make a movie talking about how Waking Life was made which drones on like freshmen film students. ... I think I need to start getting more sleep.
