pasithea: glowing girl (Default)

Well. I said I wasn't going to color this drawing last night, then today I turned around and did it anyhow. Marker and coloured pencil on bristol. The 'classic' furry media. I sorta like it although it's kind of cliched furry art and cliched manga art mixed together. Brighter colors and deeper shadows than I'd normally use too. The big thick lines help immensely with marker bleed. I had almost no trouble at all today. Also, thumbs up to Deleter brand ink, which does not bleed even with yellow marker. All in all, despite the clichedness of the artwork, I'm pretty happy with it. Lotsa little things in it are good.

Somewhere along the way, the names 'Katrina' and 'Firemane' stuck for the characters. Suitably faux-manga names. Kinda weird. I talk to my artwork. Anyone else do this?

I'm tinkering with the moth girl. I think I am going to ink and paint her and use even brighter contrast than I did here. I need to push myself on using contrast and deep shadows. I think, much like wearing earthtones to blend in, I have used muted colors and softer palettes for fear of my coloring, so I should actively challeng myself to draw in extremes. The moth is a great one for this. Haveta see how it turns out.
