Animation and Such

pasitheaSecret plan to motivate Paka, day 4: All is going according to plan.
Last night I conned Perlandria and Paka to go with me to see Koji Yamamura (In part because I confused which guest animator was speaking this month and I told them it was someone else, *embarassed*)
Still. Interesting film. He uses probably one of the most complex systems of doing 2D animation I've ever seen. We're talking like 20 layers of cels (composited on the computer, so the limitation of 6 no longer applies) for a single frame. It was also the first guest speaker I'd been to that was translated, which was kind of fun in and of itself.
After the presentation, I continued my hostage-holding (Bwahaha! We offered to drive, they were trapped!) and made them go to a loud coffee place and eat 'Tastey Orbs' (which seem to be food taken directly from The Eye of Argon) Hung out and sketched and chatted. Kinda disturbingly fun this socialness thing. I think I may have to start abducting Paka on the weekends and forcing him to watch bad animation on video tape while drinking cheap booze and animating together.
As for my secret plan to motivate him on animating, all is going according to schedule. Last night he did a really cute Cthulu walk cycle (which he'd better scan!) Still no other bids on the animation disk. 24 hours to go. *crossed fingers*
