Since they were right next to each when I was reading, I was startled to notice the striking similarity between the user pictures for Peganthyrus and GoldRose Same smile, eyes looking the same direction, same hand gesture, even the same clothing colour. Weirdness.

Can you believe I waste disk space posting stuff like this? I really need higher standards for my LJ posts. No one should ever have told me I wasn't really limited to 3 per day.

PS: Helicopters left. Still dunno what that was all about.

Hmm. Do you mean these two?

I kinda see it. Though there's a big different in attitude - the keyword on mine (which is currently my default image) is 'evil', while hers are 'happy, silly'.

Ya,

Those are the two. I guess they look more similar top to bottom than side by side though. :) This is my favourite Peg-pic BTW. It just makes me go, 'I hate you!' I could never get that kind of style and detail in such a small area.

Neither could I, without the power of the zoom tool! This is part of the fun of working in AI; I can work with details so tiny a bacterium would have trouble fitting between the control nodes. The details of the face were probably worked out with the head filling most of the screen - the only time I really work with the full image shown is when I'm doing border-type stuff. I try to remember to zoom all the way out a lot to see how it fits in the overall context, but most of my work is done at 500% or more.

This is a proverbially double-edged sword, of course; it's possible to get carried away with microscopic details. But sometimes these tiny details can really make or break an image, especially ones as pared-down as mine. I do more and more of these fine details in AI; take a look at a rough and its final incarnation to see an example of that!
